Can You Replant in the Same Hole Where a Diseased Wisteria Was Removed?

I recently removed a wisteria that suffering from some disease (had a lot of small holes in vines). I want to replant a trumpet vine in its place. Can this be done without the trumpet vine ending up with the same problem?

It sounds like the wisteria was suffering from borers. They should not affect the trumpet vine, but as a precaution, I would recommend treating the area with a pesticide like neem oil before replanting.
