Can you identify this apple disease?

My parents have an apple tree, which they use for ornamental purposes – they’ve never consumed the fruit. This year I asked them if I could harvest the apples for canning apple sauce. It is clear to me that the apples have flyspeck and sooty blotch, neither of which should be an issue since we will peel the apples, but can you identify this raised, hard, yellow-brown area that appears on some of the fruit? Is it safe to consume apples with this appearance if they are peeled and any affected areas discarded?

This is Flyspeck disease.

Flyspeck can be removed with vigorous rubbing. Fruit is considered safe to consume raw or used for cooking.
