Can you help identify disease of morning glory vines?

The leaves start to discolor and end up forming a lacy translucent spot, which eventually kills the leaf and then the vine, while the flowers hang on perfectly healthy. What is this and what might be done to control it? I haven’t got a photo, but it might be a kind of leaf-spot, although the area quickly expands into this discolored translucent lacy mess killing all my vines.
