Q.Can You Grow A Redbud Tree In A Large Outdoor Pot / Container?

Zone Livonia, MI 48152 | Anonymous added on June 16, 2026 | Answered

I have a seedling that is about 2-3 years old. It is growing in a very bad space next to my house. It is about 2 1/2’ tall. I love redbuds and my original one died a few years ago. I do not want to put it where the original one was. I think it died from ants in it ?? Don’t have a good place for it now but want to keep it. So I thought growing it in a large pot might work. Possible??

Yes, you can grow it in a large container. (You definitely don't want to replant where the same species has died.)
