Can the pods from the tulip plant be used to plant new ones

Question

A lady gave me some pods from her tulip vine, thinking I could start my tulip vine with them. Is this true and, if so, what do I need to do to start my vine?

Tulip vine is a name unfamiliar to me, and googling it brings up only trumpet vine. Trumpet vine can be extremely invasive; if you want to start this, first look at the lady’s plant and see if it’s the kind that sends up runners and shoots all over the garden and the neighbors’ properties. If you want to go on with it, I would recommend growing it in a large container (5 gal) on either concrete, or raised up so roots can be cut out of the drainage holes before they get into the ground.
