Q.Can The Flower Be Changed From Red To Pink Via A Soil Additive?

Zone Ladera Ranch, CA 92694 | Anonymous added on April 13, 2021 | Answered

Purchased 4 bottlebrush plants that were labeled “hot pop pink” color. They apparently were mislabeled as they are all blooming red. Rather than dig them up and return them, I’m wondering if the color can be changed by the addition of an acid to the soil, or some other method.

That works with mophead hydrangeas, but color change is usually not up to us. Here is an article about the science behind color change.
