can smartpots withstand severe temperatures and pestiside direct hits?
I was given 5 30 gallon smart pots. I need to know how they do in cold weather )down to 0 degrees) to hot weather (100 degrees). I also need to know if someone sprays them with pestecide how they will react. (the lawn maintenence here at this apartment don\'t like plants).
p.s. While the fabric bag itself is not harmed by cold temps, the bag offers no protection to plant roots. If perennials or shrubs are grown, you should cluster them together for the winter and surround the bags with leaves stuffed into leaf or trash bags or with mulch. Any plant above ground is considered to be in hardiness zone one zone colder than your actual zone. For example, if you live in zone 6, your fabric bag plants are effectively in zone 5; keep this in mind when choosing plants.
Smart Pots are one brand of fabric pot. They are not harmed by low temps. If they are dark colored, they will absorb heat which may make your plant roots a bit uncomfortable. When they are clustered together, they shade each other but you do want to leave some space between them to ensure good air circulation. They will not block pesticide spray.
