Q.Can Old Apple Tree Be Saved?

Orange growth noticed at base of trunk and bark very dark and cracked on old cooking apple tree (at very least 80 years old). Photos I hope show this. Leaves look very good this year and blossomed well but don’t seem to be many apples starting. Yield has decreased over past couple of years.

That is extraordinarily old for an apple tree! That should be in shambles by now.

There is nothing that you can do for this tree, besides continue proper care, until its death.
