Maple Trees

Q.Can maple tree be in mostly shade?

I have a patio so tree is in a pot.

Maples need sun to grow properly and prevent disease. You might be able to get away with part shade but mostly shade probably won't work. Japanese maples do well in shade, some cultivars more than others. If you want an evergreen, yews can tolerate shade.

Here is a publication that lists trees for container culture. Look up a tree you are interested in to find out if it can tolerate shade.
