Q.Can I Use Perlite Powder In A Seed-Starting Mix

Hi, Can I use Perlite powder in a Seed-Starting Mix. I order coarse Perlite but got mostly powdered instead. Just checking if I need to filter / sift through the contents and only use the big particles or can I also use the fine powder? If not, do I just throw away the powder? Thanks

You will want to rinse your perlite, prior to using it. Rinse it in as small of a mesh as you would like, but most of the smaller dust will wash out. Not rinsing, and leaving that dust, will likely result in fluoride burns.
