Q.Can I use fertilizer pellets for seedlings?

Zone Missouri | ccarr1971 added on April 8, 2014 | Answered

I have young tomato plants that have taken on their real leaves. I am using the bio dome system. The fertilizer I need has been delayed so I picked up some osmocote 14-14-14 plant food pellets. Can I dissolve them in water and apply to the water in the trays and, if yes, how much should I use?

Here's an article that might give you some further insight into tomato fertilizing: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/tomato/tomato-fertilizer.htm
If you still want to use the slow-release pellets, you can calculate how much you would need based on the package directions, halve that amount, put them into a container of water, and let them set until they dissolve.
