can i use essential oil in my compost, and which one?

My compost barrel stinks. Besides putting in the right stuff and not letting it get too wet, can I use an essential oil in there?

If your compost stinks, it's because it is rotting rather than composting. You don't need oil to mask the smell (I doubt it would work anyway,) you need to study more about composting. The compost pile needs to heat up enough to destroy weeds, bugs, and bacteria -- the bacteria are what cause the smell bad.
