Can I trim a fig bush now?

We live in Charlotte, NC. Is it too late to trim our fig bush? It is out of control.

I would not prune it after leaves have appeared. It makes it more susceptible to disease if it is pruned once it comes out of dormancy. However, if the plant has become overgrown or unsightly, you can go ahead and trim it back.
