Q.Can I save peony bulbs that were in the ground and dug up.

Zone Sharon, Massachusetts | JMCamann added on June 27, 2014 | Answered

I have some peony bulbs that have been in the ground for many years. They were dug up and given to me. I don’t have enough room in my yard for them and want to save them for my son. Is there a way to do this?

Peonies don't grow from bulbs, they grow from roots, and roots that can grow new plants have buds on them. Also you can store them for only a short time. I think I would put them in pots of peat moss potting mix and keep them slightly moist until time for replanting.
