Q.Can I Save Bolting Broccoli Before It Produces Broccoli?

Zone Washington | deloresstephens added on June 23, 2020 | Answered

I’m in Eastern Washington and the broccoli Was doing great and then last week the center stall shot up and flowered. There were only a few little buds on them with no broccoli heads forming. The plant was about 2 feet tall with a flower at the top. I cut them back due to not knowing what else to do. This is my first time growing broccoli so I need help.

You did the right thing, but unfortunately the weather will play against you. Heat causes this. Not even hot heat, but mild heat that gets into the 70's This is a cool weather crop, and the only way to prevent will be to take steps to reduce heat.
