Can I replant gladiolus in mid summer in zone 8B?

I live in north Florida, zone 8b. The gladiolus that I planted in March (in large planter boxes) have finished blooming. The plant tops are now beginning to turn brown and are no longer attractive. What I would like to know is… would it be a bad idea to dig up the bulbs, dry them a few days, and replant them? Could I expect another blooming this year?
