Q.Can I Re-purpose Plastic Floor Runners As A Weed Block?
Hello, Trying to be green, I have a lot of floor runners that I do not need anymore. I’m planning on landscaping the front yard. I was thinking I could cut holes where I want the plants to go. Then lay the plastic runner on top of the tilled ground to block out weeds and cover with mulch. But I was wondering if I would need to poke additional holes for water to get to the plants? Or is this just a bad idea all together? Thank you for your time and advice.

It could be problematic for several reasons: air and water won't be able to get through (unless you add more holes which will allow weeds), the mulch won't be able to decompose and enrich the soil. The plastic also will suffocate the living organisms in the soil.
