Q.Can I Plant Mexican Sage Bush (5 Gallon Planter) In Sept In Zone 9a?

Zone 94954 | Anonymous added on September 11, 2025 | Answered

I was gifted a a 5gallon Mexican sage bush plant and live in N. California and would love to get it in the ground in my garden. Is it still ok to plant it this time of year? I’m a fairly novice gardener as you may tell 🙂 Most of my plants were planted back in the spring.

Yes, you can plant it now. It is winter hardy in your zone 9. Fall and spring are the best times for planting. Here is more on Mexican bush sage.
