Can I Plant Aspen Trees In Stump Grindings Of A Pine Tree (blue Spruce)?

I recently had several blue spruce trees cut down on my property. I am having the stump grindings left behind and want to know if mixing the stump grindings with topsoil will be beneficial or harmful to the Aspens.

You will want to check the pH first. Many times, Spruce will change the pH of the soil to be too acidic to support the growth of other trees.

If the pH is within an acceptable range, then you can plant safely. If the pH is not in an acceptable range, then you will want to amend the soil.

It will be good to amend the area with compost prior to planting, anyway.
