Can I Plant Asparagus Seed Collected From Wild Plants in the Fall?

I live in Northcentral Montana and we have a lot of wild asparagus in our area. I was able to collect some seeds this fall and was wondering how to proceed. The seeds would have dropped naturally had I not picked them, so I thought maybe I could scatter them in a prepared bed this fall, or do I wait till next spring. Any information would be helpful. Thank you.

Most seeds are started indoors. You would normally do this about 2-3 months before your last expected frost date. Then once they reach 6-12 inches, you can plant them outdoors, treating them like you would crowns.
