Q.Can I plant an Italian plum tree in a pot till the fall and then put it in the ground?
My garden is growing and I didn’t want to take out the other plant till they were done producing.

Yes you can. It should be safe to wait until mid or late September to plant it in the ground. Here's an article: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/plum/growing-prune-trees.htm
