Can I Plant a Wisteria in a Rain Garden?

Question

I have an area that is always wet from an underground spring in my backyard. I would like to use plants that would soak up some of this water. Any sugestions? I guess they call this a rain garden.

Wisteria can tolerate constantly moist soil, but there is a difference between moist soil, a rain garden and always wet. A willow or bald cypress tree with a wisteria guided to the tree would work. If a tree is not appropriate, could you build an arbor or pergola for the wisteria over the rain garden, and use bog plants in the rain garden? I would not plant a wisteria in an “always wet” location.
