Q.Can I Plant A Blue Spruce Tree In 90 Degree Plus Temperatures?

Zone 81212 | Anonymous added on June 15, 2021 | Answered

I have a potted blue spruce I need to plant but the days are in the low to mid 90s. Is it too hot to plant or should I wait until fall? Thank you.

Since you have the plant I would go ahead and plant it. Ideally, you shouldn't plant when it is that hot, but leaving it in the container outside all summer seems worse to me. The only thing is: don't forget about it. In this temperature, it will need to be watered more often till it is established. I would water every couple of days to start. Also, if the sun is blazing hot all day with no clouds, you might consider a shade cloth for a few weeks for part of the day.
