Can I Dig Up My Gerbera Daisy for Winter?

I live in the mid-west and want to keep the daisies through the winter for spring planting next year. How do I care for it during the storage time?

You can either cover the plants with a good layer of mulch and leave them in the ground over winter or pot them up and keep them in a sheltered location (like a shed outdoors or in the home where it can go dormant). Only water once monthly during dormancy indoors. When the plants begin to regrow in spring, remove the mulch or take the pots back outside.
