Q.Can I Bury Part of the Trunk of a Coconut Palm Without Damaging it

paul.r added on April 3, 2013 | Answered

I wish to extend a retaining wall that would extend past a number of coconut palms, which I would not like to remove. Can I just cover the bottom 900mm of the trunk without affecting the palms?

I have been taught that 4-6 inches is tolerable for the tree, but no more than 6".
