can hyacinths be transplanted from the yard into planters?

We have hyacinths growing wild all over our yard and would like to transplant them into a planter. When would be the best time if we can?

You can if you goal is long term placement of the hyacinth. But, if you are simply looking to bring the lovely blooms indoors or to a more frequented part of the yard, this will not work well. The blooms will fade fast after they are transplanted due to stress.

If you are looking to move them to a container permanently, fall is the best time. But, if you are like me, it can be hard to remember where you planted them without leaves to mark the location. If this is the case for you, then late spring, right after the leaves start to turn yellow, will also work.
