There are several types of hibiscus and the answer to your question depends on what type you have. If you have tropical hibiscus, it will not survive winter outdoors. It is often distinguished by very glossy leaves. It is often grown in containers so they can be moved indoors in cool weather. This article mentions the different types. If you can't figure out which one you have, please post a picture of your plant. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/hibiscus/deadheading-hibiscus-flowers.htm
