Q.CAN CONE FLOWERS CHANGE THEIR COLOR AFTER SEVERAL YEARS
I HAVE SO MANY GARDEN BEDS WITH FLOWERS, I CAN LOSE TRACK WHAT COLOR AN ECHINACEA WAS LAST YEAR. I’M SURE A FEW HAVE CHANGED OVER YEARS, LIKE REDS, OR ORANGES, INTO MUTED SOFTER COLORS. DO THEY, OR IS IT MY IMAGINATION? I GET YOUR NEWSLETTERS AND LOVE THEM! YOU ARE MY GO-TO SOURCE FOR HELP! THANK YOU!!

Yes! They come back from seed, and with that comes genetic variability. You should expect quite a bit of variety over time, as they show traits from all of their genetics as they cross. As well, older specimens can fade with maturity over time.
