Can Trumpet Vine be planted in large pot

We have deer and bunnies that eat any and all pretty plantings. Can we plant our new trumpet vine in a large pot on a second story deck? The plan would be to let the vine grow up the ballisters and along the top of the rail. Would the plant survive a winter in Colorado Springs because once intertwined in the rail, the plant/pot cannot be moved indoors.

Yes, you can grow Trumpet Vine in a large container. A half whiskey barrel or 15 to 20 gallon sturdy pot with drainage.
You do need to make sure this vigorous vine has a trellis and if the vine can become invasive and damage siding and even grow up under shingles.
Keeping the vine properly pruned will be important.
Trumpet Vine is hardy down to zone 4 so you can leave the pot outdoors for winter.
