Can a Hibiscus plant be transplanted from pot to yard prior to winter and survive until spring?

Have several south florida plants in pots and need to know how to have them survive the winter months in northern florida. ie: Hibiscus, crotons, thai plant.

None of these plants are hardy in your zone 8, so I would plan on overwintering them inside the house near a south-facing window.
