Calla lily

My Calla lily has not bloomed yet, but it has huge heavy leaves with thick stalks. Not all the stalks are this way, but they are extremely heavy. And it has new growth coming up from the bottom every day. Should I trim these heavy stalks away? They are just shriveled and tired looking.
