Q.California Poppy Help!

Zone TA21 8LG | Anonymous added on July 27, 2022 | Answered

I had three thriving california poppy plants (orange king) in the front of a bed with lavender. My other half wanted to mow the lawn, I gently lifted said poppy and lavender trails but not violently and now they’re all flat. They’re not dead but they’re not standing beautifully in the mix – have I killed them!? Can I cut them back at all to hopefully encourage them to perk back up and produce new growth? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, moving them is likely to kill them. However, they are known to become quite invasive by seed, so they will likely come back.
