California Lilac Drying Out

Question

one side of my california lilac appears to be dying…the leaves and stems are drying out. I have had the bush in the same spot for 10 years. I attempted to upload a photo but was unable to.

Tis the season for Verticillium Wilt! Without a photo it will be hard to confirm, but you describe the tell-tale signs of the disease.
