Q.Buying seeds from abroad

Zone KT6 7NS - Tolworth, Surrey | Debbie Ralph added on May 14, 2016 | Answered

I have seen deep purple poppy that I have not been able to source in the UK. The website is based in the USA and they see no problem in sending me a packet of seeds; however, we feel it prudent to check if this is legal and not breaking any quarantine procedures? The seeds would be marked with a customs check, would this be sufficient? If you could offer some advice?

Thanking you in anticipation

Debbie Ralph

You will need to contact the Customs Office at your port of entry.

My understanding is that it is much easier to send seeds from the US, then to send seeds to the US.
Small orders are generally not an issue from private parties, but companies may be required to have permits.
