Butternut Squash/Frost

Our squash plants got hit with frost September 10. The squash were not quite ready for harvest but now the plants are wrecked. Can the squash be picked and ripened indoors or are they destined for the composte pile? Same question applies to our Acorn squash.

Sometimes you can ripen them off the vine. It depends on how close to mature they were. This article will help you try: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/squash/ripening-green-unripe-squash.htm [1]
