Q.Butterfly bushes

Zone 16507 | Anonymous added on December 3, 2016 | Answered

Our new butterfly bush was so tall that we can’t see the evergreens behind it. We would like to see during the winter. Can we cut our butterfly bush from almost 6 feet to 3 feet and then in the spring cut it back one more foot so it will be 2 feet from the ground?

Yes, you can prune the plant back to bring it into a better shape and size for your garden.
I would cut 1/3 of the plant back at each cutting. This will give you good results and give the plant time to adjust.
