Q.Butternut Squash

Anonymous added on September 9, 2015 | Answered

I have grown some butternut squash plants from seed (previous year fruit). One is definitely another butternut squash, the other plant looks similar, but has large dark green pumpkin type fruits. Not sure why or what to do with them now. The original butternut squash fruit was supposedly organic, but I wonder if it was a hybrid and the plant has reverted back to original? Would they still be edible?

Yes, the seeds may not resemble the parent plant if they were harvested from a hybrid plant.
