Q.Burning bush

Zone Centerville, Ohio 45459 | Jtrjl added on May 26, 2016 | Answered

I have a burning bush..about chest high. Some of the leaves have small white spots. Some of the stems have little black things; not sure if they are bugs or a disease. I hope this is enough of a description. Should I cut off the leaves and stems or is there a spray I should use? Your advice will be appreciated.

You'll need to first identify the "little black things" in order to treat whatever it is, appropriately. Burning Bush plants don't typically have a ton of issues, but they are susceptible to scale insects (and there are multiple types of scale insects). This article will help you identify them (if that's what they are): https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/control-plant-scale.htm

There are a number of insect pests in the articles listed on this page: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/

You may have two completely different things going on, though. It's possible your plant may be suffering from White Leaf Spot. Learn more about it here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/white-leaf-spot-control.htm and about other plant diseases here: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/disease/
