Q.Burning Bush

Zone B0K 1N0 | Chris Patterson added on June 8, 2018 | Answered

We just purchased a burning bush and planted it a week ago. We live on the ocean and the next day we had a rain and wind storm that resulted in a heavy salt spray from the ocean. Now the bush looks dead. We can move it to a spot that is protected some from the ocean spray. We are wondering if we should do that or just assume it is dead.

Yes, I would definitely move it, given that it is still alive. You can check this by scratching the stem, or breaking the tip of a stem, and checking for any green or living material. If it is brittle and dead all of the way down, then there will be no saving it.

This article will give you more information on the care that these require: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/shrubs/burning-bush/burning-bush-care.htm
