Bulbs on roots of spider plant

When I transplanted my spider plant, I noticed strange bulbs on the roots. What are they?

What you are witnessing on your spider plant is a normal part of its root system. The spider plant has what is known as “tuberous roots”, which swell for food and water storage. You can separate these tubers to divide your plant.
