Q.Bugs and Weeds

Zone 90240 | silviaebp added on April 15, 2016 | Answered

Thank you for offering this forum. My first year gardening crops. My apology for the multiple questions.

1. Do you know if the attached photo is of a weed or a cole? I planted some veggies in this pot last year. After the rains I noticed something sprouting so I fertilized it and put it where it gets morning sunshine. Watered it twice a week and this is what I got. The eaten up leaves beside this plant are the other veggie I planted last year. Some of its leaves are eaten up but not as much as the other plant. The leaf shape is different.

2. Will I lose my bumper crop? I am finding some grubs in my greenhouse 16′ x 9′. Is there any type of herb, plant or insect I can put in my greenhouse to either kill or deter these pests?

3. Some leaves on one my Sage are turning black. Some of the plant has little round eggs. This plant is next to my tomato. He is starting to droop now. What is going on?

Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Potted vegetables will needed a full sun location. 6 to 8 hours of sunlight is best.
Make sure you are checking the moisture level daily in your container.
