Q.Brugmansia Stems Produce New Shoots At Every Leave Node; Which Ones/how Many Do I Keep To Get The Most Flowers?
I live in Canada and brought branches/stems inside and kept them in water. Some made roots, others didn’t. Some roots started to rot in water in early spring and I lost those branches. Now I put them outside in the ground. Some started to produce a new shoot at each leave node, others not yet doing anything. I thought that I don’t need dozens of new branches with green and rather have 3 to 5 branches with flowers. I removed all new shoots except keeping 1 to 3 on each Y shaped branch. Is this correct? Any suggestions on how to do better next year?

Next year when you bring stems in and root them in water, as soon as they have about an inch (2.5 cm) of roots, move them to potting soil in containers. Excessive pruning will delay flowering, so keep the pruning to a minimum. Here is more:
