Brown Turkey Fig Tree

Question

I have been trying to grow a Brown Turkey Fig Tree for about 6 months. It has several very small, very tight “buds” that don’t open or grow. Leaves are rare and when they did bloom, they turned brown. It is planted in full sun; the soil is very sandy. PLEASE HELP! Thank you.
