Brown Spots on Fig Tree Leaves

I have pictures to share if needed but I have two fig trees that are potted and they have extensive small brown spots and in some places large patches of brown. Could it be from too much watering? They are getting full sun.

If it is just brown spots, then this is most likely fig rust, caused by a fungus.

If they turn brown completely, then it is likely a small pest attacking the plant. There are several it could be, including scale, aphids and mealybugs.

If you treat the plant with neem oil, it will correct both the pest issue and the rust issue. Here is more information on neem oil:
