Q.Broken main stem of hibiscus

Anonymous added on June 8, 2015 | Answered

In the recent stormy winds our top heavy hibiscus has blown over and the main stem at the bottom has split in two places. Previously there were three main branches off the bottom of the stem, now these have split into almost three separate branches. We’ve had it for years and it’s very large and in summer is beautiful so I am desperate not to lose it. Can it be repaired in any way? Currently, I have wrapped heavy duty tape around the stem to bring it back together. Thank you.

I might suggest using flexible plant twist ties. They would hold the plant together, but allow air to circulate around the stem.
It may be a wait and see approach after that.
Best of luck.
