Q.Broccoli Harvesting

Anonymous added on June 11, 2011 | Answered

I harvested my broccoli heads and put them on my kitchen counter to use in dinners throughout the week. The broccoli got soft instead of staying firm, still edible but droopy-like. Is there something I should do to it to make it retain its firmness? Also, any tips of freezing it?

Before freezing, the broccoli will need to be blanched. For ease of cooking, we would recommend that you chop them. After blanching, spread them out on a cookie sheet and then freeze them. Once they are frozen, you can put them in storage bags and keep them in the freezer until you use them.
