Q.Branch Cutting From Eucalyptus Tree

Anonymous added on September 4, 2011 | Answered

A friend gave me a large branch cutting off her eucalyptus tree with a woody stem. I put root tone on it and put it in a large pot and watered. I keep it inside. Am I off to a good start? Is this possible to establish in this way? Also, I received small cuttings and placed them in a vase with water. Will they grow roots to plant later?

Eucalyptus cuttings do not usually root that easily; therefore, this method of propagation rarely works. However, the tree does propagate easily from seeds, which can be started directly in the ground or in a container and later transplanted.

If you still wish to try your hand at rooting cuttings, this article should help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/tgen/how-to-root-cuttings-from-various-shrubs-bushes-and-trees.htm
