Q.Boxwood Bush

Zone 24592 | Robph added on April 30, 2022 | Answered

I just moved into a new house, I\’ve had this smell that I couldn\’t describe or find the source, I was outside and found it is the boxwood bushes out front. The thing is, I taste that smell in my food n drink. Its everywhere. Its coming out of my skin in my sweat or at least I think it is, could just be in my nose all the time. My question is, is it normal for that bush to be so potent and strong? Thanks – Rob

Thanks .. The bushes are right outside my window where I work all day. The smell is not obvious but I think maybe I have become used to it so don't notice it and when I come into contact with anything that has a strong smell, my brain seems to be interpreting it as the plant, that's what I am guessing anyway. Also I wouldn't describe it as a cat pee smell, I have 2 cats and it's not the same at all, I would describe it almost like an oil smell, like WD40 or other lubricant. For anyone else who experiences the same as me, I remembered visiting the mall and those sales people who get you to try their colognes etc., they use a small container with coffee in it for you to smell to neutralize your smell so you can try a different cologne, well that works with this smell too. If I smell the boxwood, I take a whiff of coffee then go back to what I thought smelled like boxwood and it's gone. I'm just glad it's not an issue with the house.
