Bouganvillea La Jolla

I planted a dozen 5-gallon bougie la jollas on the slope behind my house in southern California 4 months ago. They were coming in beautifully until recently when the flowers started to turn light pink, then pale, before turning light brown and falling off. Too much water? Not enough? Please help.

Bougainvillea plants are spectacular while in bloom. It just doesn’t last long enough. Each variety has somewhat of a different length in blooming time. As each bloom scape matures, the intense color dulls, fades, browns then falls.
