Q.Bottlebush Looks Dead On Top But Base Still Green

Zone 77433 | Pammyxtx added on March 10, 2025 | Answered

My bottlebrush is green at the base of the bush but completely brown up top (after a hard freeze in Texas). Can it be saved?

Your bottlebrush plant may not be completely dead, even if the upper parts look damaged. Hard frosts can cause significant dieback in bottlebrush plants. Prune the dead parts and protect from hard frosts in the future. They typically loose all top growth here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex but come back from the base.
